Let's talk bourbon... and one whiskey.

Over the last five years or so, I've moved away from drinking "a ton" of beer to drinking good ol' American whiskey as well as lots of different bourbon. I like Jack Daniels and while JD is not an actual bourbon, it is a sour mash like bourbon, but it's just not made in Kentucky. JD (or JD's brothers Gentleman Jack or Single Barrel) is my "fall back" when I can't find a good bourbon... ie. Jim Beam, don't like it at all, way too sweet.

What's your favorite bourbon (or whiskey)?

NOTE: This thread is about AMERICAN brown alcohol. Whiskey and/or bourbon only please!

if i had a choice it'd be scotch every time. the only bourbon i enjoy is makers mark. but i'd still rather drink even grants over mm.

it does occur to me that mm would make for a phenomenal cooking whiskey.

I just became a big broubon lover - try Woodford Reserve, Baisel Haydens or Four Roses Single Barrell.

I was born and raised in Kentucky. I live in the heart of Bourbon Country. Love the stuff.
My favorite sipping bourbon would be Woodford Reserve. Made in the Woodford County. The next county over from where I live. Talk about smooth. Don't get any better.
Maker Mark is also a great Bourbon. Made 2 counties away.
But the best cheap Bourbon is made in Louisville. It's Early Times.
In fact I'm having me a little night cap as I type.
In my Kentucky opinion, Jack Daniels is one of the worst whiskeys I have ever tasted. Way overrated.

The best I've ever had is Templeton Rye. It's only available in IL and IA.

I do enjoy some Makers. The wife and I had a bit this evening.

Ole No.7 tasted so bad, that I haven't tried anymore Jack Daniel products. But who knows, i might give it a try.

I do agree about your opinion of Jim Beam. To me it has a nasty after taste.

I was a Knob Creek drinker till I tried Woodford Reserve. Now it is a toss-up between them. Bulleit and Maker's Mark are good also,

Can I go a little north of the border with Black Velvet. I know it's Canadian whiskey but it is in North America.

My favorite is Blantons.
If I can't find that, I drink Makers Mark.
