Axe-FX - JCM800 Amp/Cab/Reverb

Just a test, but this is as simple a signal chain as can be and it sounds pretty good to me.

"Tweak Thread" details here: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/sho...d.php?t=634666

Here's a soundclip showing the dynamic nature of this preset. Just amp/cab/verb in the signal chain inside the Axe-FX. Recorded direct out via digital to Reaper and ripped straight down to mp3. No post.

Guitar is my Melancon Custom Artist with S/S/H (WCR SR/SR/Goodwood).

Well, I record a real 800 all the time with varying guitars and I must say I hear a lot of the same characteristics in this clip.

The 800 can be a somewhat unforgiving amp if set that way and this clip demonstrates that...killer sound but not much to hide behind, like is the case with many modelers. Most that I have used have way too much gain and have an ugly sheen in the upper mids. This sounds very well balanced as far as mimicking an 800.

The other thing is in the clip, it sounds like you switch pickups to go clean...an 800 does that well with my strat and pickup arrangement.

Sounds great Scott, pretty sure an Axe-fx will be in my toolbox in the future...finances permitting!

Please stop posting these clips. I am in no position to buy this and it could lead to divorce. Please for the sake of my marriage, stop!

Cool - thanks for the kind words.

Yes, I do change the pickups and vary the volume knob in that little clip to show the colors you can get dynamically. Good ear.
