Dimarzio Area Users

I just bought a set of '61-'58-'67 Area Pickups. I plan on using the '61 in the bridge but I am still debating on where to place the '58 and '67. I would like to get the most possible "quack" available in the 2 & 4 positions without the neck being muddy. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I was told the same thing by Dimarzio.

+1. Also, if you don't mind not having a tone control on your middle pup, just wire the lower tone pot to the 61 in the bridge. This definitely increases clarity in the middle, and therefore quack. The 58 in the neck is sweet, sweet, sweet. Great pickups.

i love my areas. i have the 58/58/61.

the 61 is a great bridge Pup and the neck is fat and buttery. i keep my mid 58 low and it quacks real well.

I like the 67 in the middle with no tone control

neck I liked the 61 and heavy blues and regular blues vv pickups

for the bridge o think the solo or virtual solo or whatever they're calling it these days is just about the best single coil I've heard in the bridge. If you haven't tried that pickup you should.

I use No Load Pots with these pups. Adds just a tiny bit of clarity.

My #1 78 Strat has 61,61, Solo Pro.

My 62 AV RI has a 58/58/61.

I'm installing a 61,67, Solo in another guitar this weekend.

I kinda like the 61 over the 58 for all positions in general but my tonal moods change.

Not sure wether I'll put the 67 in the Middle or Neck and vice a versa with the 61. Either way I'm gonna leave the leads long enough to swap back and fourth.

Love the Solo Pro. Still Vintage sounding but enough beef to do the hard stuff. Like the 61 in the Bridge also but she does get a bit bright wich can be fixed easily by rolloing back the tone knob. I also have a Heavy Blues 2 that is nice, kinda inbetween the Solo and 61 sound.

I have the tone already wired to control the bridge with no tone on the middle. I'm going to try the '67 in the middle and the '58 in the neck. That Virtual Solo looks a bit higher output than I want for the bridge, we'll see how the '61 goes first.

Yeah but it's got that nice Vintage Stratty sound. And it kicks arse !

When you install that 61 in the bridge, keep the leads long enough so that you could install it in the neck. You may or may not like it in the neck over the 58 and you could try the the solo in the bridge down the road maybe ?

With that Virtual Solo in the bridge, would you still get enough quack with the '67 in the middle in the #2 position? Looks like the treble is quite rolled off from reading the specs on the Virtual Solo.

I've been looking at the Area pickup for a nashville style tele and to me its funny that they don't recommend their "SRV" pickup (the 61') for the neck position. I understand output wise it makes more sense in the bridge but still.

Hey sorry to jack the thread, but what do you guys think of this combination. N/M/B, 67'/58'/VV Heavy blues 2, in the neck i want a clear and it shouldnt get muddy when driven. I kinda like the sound of the 67' in the demo in the dimarzio site. which position would make it close to that?

Thanks guys!

I started with a 58/61/VV 54 Pro set up. The 58 was nice and clear in the neck, but I need just a little more umph.

Now I have a 61 in the neck and really like it. It seems thicker than the 58, but it suits my needs better.

In general, how do all of you like the '67 compared to the '61?

Like a Duck I Imagine.

Don't have the 67 in yet but the specs are similar the the 58 but with more highs.

MY #1 has 61,61, and a Solo and she quacks mighty fine.

Anyone have experience with both the Areas and the Fender Vintage Noiseless? If so, hHow would you compare them? I have the noiseless in my Clapton strat and while they are okay I'm always wondering if there is something better.
