Well Ok then. I will get the '61 wired in and if it doesn't work out, I'll give this well loved Virtrual Solo a try.

I put some of these in great guitar and I did not like them. 500K pots. Wrong pots or what? What do you guys wire them up with?

I used both pot values depending on what was working best. 250s are fine BTW.

VV and Area pickups...They're not for everyone I guess. I like how they sound though they are not like vintage strats o my ear. They sound kinda "perfected". If that's just the fact that there is no hum, or that the highs are smoother, I just can't say. But they're a big part of my guitars sound now ( my strat sound at least).

the areas were the first time i put in a set of pups and left em in. ireally got used to them and once they are dialed in for your particular guitar, they are great.

Great clips, Jack. I especially LOVED the clean #1 clip. Really nice! That was a Blues pickup?

Do you have 2 different setups? One with the Blues neck pup, and one with the 61? I couldn't be certain from your description.

One more question: Have you tried the Pro Track in the bridge? I have a strat ultra that I'm pulling the Lace pickups out of. I'm thinking 61 67 Pro Track...

I have a 61 61 VPAF bridge humbucker in my #1. You're right about them being smoother. For me, Dimarzio has addressed all of the things that I didn't like about strat pickups.

At one time I had two strata with different pu assemblies...the solo In the bridge was the only constant.

The blues sounds great in the neck position of my57 ri but I'm pretty sure the 61 would sound good there too. The 67 in the middle is a great choice and better than the heavy blues that currently resides in my guitar...but I just make due.

Whatever is going on with my 86 usvri strat is working just fine. Good enough that I sold my 62 avri with the other pickups. That guitar was great too but I just really connected with this one and these pickups...they were in there when I bought it and my tech said to try the sol and I haven't looked back since.

Not very boutique...not vintage and still I love them.

My thoughts exactly. I had these a while ago but switched out for Fender Custom '69's and Suhr FL's with the BPSSC but to be honest, I don't think it really cut the noise enough to make it worthwhile. So, there is a trade-off. I wired the '67 in the middle and I really dig that pickup, so much I may get another to add to the neck instead of the '58 or just swap the two and see how that is. The '67 seems very open sounding to me.

When you do swap the 67 to the neck and 58 to the mid position, can you please tell me how the sound is? Thanks!
