Stereo 1957.....?
There's only one transformer. ? One of the speakers is evidently blown. I'm going to try the 9v batt test this afternoon. But one measures 6.8, the other 1.4

Stereo, 1957. Yes. Which model?
I've got a 1955 model 1336, like this: http://www.silvertoneworld.com/ampli...1336/1336.html Stereo output. Output transformers are under the chassis.

Yes! That's it. Model 1336 - How cool. With those friggin tilted speakers which looks like it will be a pickle using any other speaker, unless I can find a good speaker with a very small diameter magnet. I see Fender makes one that should fit. One of mine is blown.
I see what you mean about stereo. You could essentially split your cord, one into each channel. I have a DeArmond pedal that looks like a volume pedal but it's just a channel switcher with a pot, so you can roll from one channel to another. THAT'd be cool....with different effects on each channel. Hmmmmm. Got me thinking now. Maybe wire one output with a speaker jack & run another cabinet. Eh? 50 watts! That was bad ass for 1954....!

I own one, and had a customer bring one in. Got to run both at the same time, it was one of the more awesome dual amp setups I've ever run. Those things are great amps, very undervalued compared to some other brands of the same style.

What kind of speaker at what rating do you think would be good for a honkin' blues sound?

Bruceman:
Sorry, late to the party - when measuring the 'impedance' using your multimeter, you are actually measuring DC resistance. Thus, expect 6.x ohms for a typical 8 ohm speaker...

I really like the stock speakers in this thing. It might be better to recone the originals. If you are going to go for new/aftermarket speakers, I would go with a higher wattage alnico speaker to keep some of the original integrity to the amp, and because I like how it sounds with alnico speakers. There are a lot of great choices on the market, and a lot of threads on here that get into comparing the different brands available. Celestion, Jensen, Weber, WGS, and Scumback all have speakers that would work great in this application. What I don't know exactly off the top of my head is how each one will fit in that cab. It's going to be a tight squeeze for some of the brands listed. You are probably going to have to take some measurements and contact each of the makers to find out what will fit. (I am currently away from my shop for the holidays, but will be back in a few days and can help measure then if you need it).
