Fender Pickup snafu

Looking to upgrade my 2009 '62 AVRI strat PUPs (57/62s),I browsed TGP and decided on Custom Shop '60s-only available taken from someone's Custom Shop strat as they are not offered as an after market replacement.TGP pundits convinced me these would be fabulous! I played a Custom Shop 60's model and agreed it sounded great.I was able finally to procure a set taken from a reliced Custom Shop ax (rusted look)-but they were dead! I took them to Goez Instruments for a fix-they needed a rewind and Skip is the guru. After all the work and moolah to accomplish the task to get them in the AVRI, when I went to get the finished job, Skip said that was alot of dough for rust.I mentioned that these are THE PUPs to have.Skip said THEY ARE 100% THE SAME AS 57/62s!!No differences.I'm working on convincing myself they have more mojo-haven't gotten there yet.And I didn't even really want the rust. What say,ye,pudits? What say,ye,Fender?

For your sake, I hope Skip is mistaken.

I know Skip pretty well and would not trust much he says anymore. I won't go there with details. Yeah, that is a lot of work for a set of Fender pups. I would have just gotten a set of Lollar Dirty Blondes and had a better sounding set and save some dough. Always question him for all the details before comissioning him to do anything. Jon there is the one to deal with. He may not wind pickups but he is a gentleman and scholar.

I'd take the Fender Custom Shop 60's over Lollar Blondes anyday

I'd try to get another set, sounds odd all 3 stopped working at the same time
They are "not" the same as the 57/62

Anyone want a set of 57/62's? Pretty good replacement PUP for Custom 60's! No rust or anything!! Anyone wanna trade for Lollar Dirty Blondes? Sheesh and double sheesh! Happy Holidays, all! I'm gonna go have a hot toddy and play my strat. Nutmeg soothes the soul

57/62s are ok

But they're a very common inexpensive set, probably won't have
much luck trading for Lollars :-)

I dunno about all this lollar stuff, but the pickups that came in my 66' CS strat are fantabulous.

I got caught up in the hype of the boutique builder thing years ago

Kind of went in circles and am now back in mostly Fenders
Was a pricey tail chase

Fat 50's are my favorite Fender at the moment
But the 60's are thing a beauty

Nobody makes a more authentic Strat pup then Fender
