I'm quite happy with the repro halo used in the Wilson wahs...

I want to try a Castledine but after several emails I never heard back from anybody...

I have a Whipple inductor in my CryBaby which also has a modified circuit as per DIYGuitarist's site. The circuit mods definitely made a difference in the beefiness of the wah's performance... but the inductor smoothed out the tones.

If you are looking for a smooth wah sound - I'd recommend a combination of the DIYGuitarist's mods and the Whipple. If you want something with a bit of hair added to your signal, the red Fasel and/or the Fulltone inductors will fit the bill.

Nonetheless, I'm very curious about the yellow Fasel!

Fulltone won't sell you an inductor unless you own one of his wahs and the inductor went south.

Castledine also will not sell you an inductor without purchasing a pre-assembled board or having a wah modified by him.

Most replica Clyde builders use a 100k pot. Stuart Castledine is one exception who prefers the 200k Pro Pot. He used one to replace the Icar in a transitional 60s Vox he sold me.

That Pro Pot from Banzai should be a 200k pot, not a 100k. If you live in the US, you can get them from Tom Lanik off Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=263602_263622

Tom Lanik? deja vu.
FORGERY ALERT: Imitation RMC ROC-POT2 potentiometers are being sold in the U.S. and U.K. markets. They are marked on the back "RMC ROC-POT2 0213", and have black gears. Authentic RMC ROC-POT2 potentiometers all have WHITE gears on them, and are marked "RMC ROC-POT2 0112" or "RMC ROC-POT2 0246". My pots are only available in RMC wahs and are not available on the open market. The RMC ROC-POT2 was replaced by the RMC ROC-POT3 as of 2006. Effective 2007, the RMC ROC-POT3 was replaced by the RMC ROC-POT4. Effective 2008, the RMC ROC-POT4 has been replaced by the RMC ROC-POT5. The new RMC ROC-POT5 is a sealed, low-noise, ultra long life pot which should last for the life of the wah. Older RMC wahs may be sent in for installation of our new pot as we do NOT sell our pots for DIY installation. Please contact Geoffrey for specifications.

Still says "Customers from the USA should direct order enquiries to Tom Lanik"...I did, tome emailed me back about 3 months later and said he'd been busy but he'd get me taken care of...that was the last I heard from him and that was almost a year ago...

I also tried several times to contact Stuart directly and got 2 replies out of a half dozen emails...one said to contact Tom Lanik and the other said, surprise he was busy but woudl get me take care of, I asked for a quote and never heard back...that was about 8 months ago...

I really did want to try a Castledine board but I guess it just wasn't in the cards...

i heard the teese is having custom sealed pots made for his wahs now. The area 51 pots are custom made but look just like the fulltone. They are supposedly rated for more turns than fulltone. Fulltone won't sell you a pot or inductor anymore from what I've heard. KR is making wahs too. He hand-winds his inductors. I'm sure they're killer. Hope to try one someday...

I have tried the "whipple" pot, Area 51 and the Pro Pot. For my taste the Area 51 has the right "feel" and sweep. As for inductors I've had a Whipple and have a couple Castledines. The Whipple is really nice, but the Castledine has a deeper throater tone and just sounds richer.

here's a pic of my perf Clyde Clone w/Castledine inductor. I have the input resistor, "Q" resistor, and transistors socketed. My next perf wah is gonna have an Arteffect Inductor, which should be here in a couple weeks.

Installed the Castledine inductor. Absolutely glorius sounding. Sweet vintage high end and thick lows. No brittleness or ice pick here. No low end sludge.. just tight and aggressive dynamics.

Couldn't be happier
