Snyder doesn't want to chase glory gone by - he wants his own glory but doesn't know how to get it. Literally the only bridge between the pre and post Snyder world was Joe Gibbs. Otherwise Dan has never even so much as invited the Hogs to a game at Fed Ex. He seems dead set on making the team in his own image, which is the problem.

I agree. I meant that he likes to chase that glory by trying to taste it - or catch a whiff of it - from those who experienced in the past.

Unfortunately, it's usually the distant past.

It could be worse, you could be the Bills - hiring a 70 year old to be football czar.

The Shanahan downside, as a buddy of mine reminded me, is that the Denver defense was in a tatters when he left.

I noted that he's not a fixer, but it's really doubtful that he's a consistent evaluator.

QUESTION FOR EVERYONE:

Do you remember the hulabaloo that surrounded Steve Spurrier's hiring? The genius had arrived, glory was coming, etc...? Is it me, or does this have the vague stank of that on it? Maybe it's just that I've heard this song so many times before from Snyder I've grown immune to it.

Anyway, someone is excited....

"Hey Mom, WE GOT HIM!"

That is what I look like after a number of frosty beverages.

This is what I look like after a LARGE number (extra credit if you can ID the locale).

And this after a HUGE number (double extra credit if you can ID this city)!

Oh stop, we both have two things in common:

1) We'll both be watching the Eagles play this weekend

2) Neither of us will be watching the Redskins.

Jon,

I always thought you looked a little like Lanny McDonald. you two have the most luxurious mustaches I've ever seen and I say that in a completely envious way.
