What tunings do you use?

Curious as to some different tunings you all play whether it be metal, jazz, etc... or if you tune down and why.

Nothing unusual, a guitar detuned by a tone for songs that I (or the band vocalist) can't sing in the proper key but the riffs can't be transposed in standard. Open E for slide, Open G for slide and a couple of acoustic instrumentals, DADGAD for the odd foray into folk and mucking about with 'Kashmir', a Strat detuned by a semitone to play along with Jimi, SRV and early Robin Trower and everything else kept standard.

E flat for about 70% of our band's material, then open G (well...technically open F#) & of course drop D for a few numbers. I'm trying to migrate a lot of the drop D material to open G for grins & jollys, to cut down on the mid set guitar swaps.

I do a lot of stuff in DADGAD, drop D, and tunings of my own - one of my favorites was, low to high - Eb, C, C (unison), G, G, G (all unison)

For slide playing I usually use open D, open G or that Leo Kottke tuning C, G, C, G, C, E

Standard and occasionally Drop D cause that's what most of the songs we play are written in.

Standard mostly but I like to drop a semitone to spice things up sometimes.

I haven't thought of upping a semitone to see what happens.

Standard & open G. When playing classical guitar, drop D for some pieces, and G tuned down to F# occasionally. Also had a phase where I'd just drop the A to G, but outgrew that fairly quickly.

standard and dropped d are most common. i have a baritone for anything lower.

i do have a guitar for open tunings, but that's mostly for screwing around. i'm usually in either Open D or Open G. i haven't really explored DADGAD yet.

i'm a big capo user too.

My band plays instrumental sorta-semi-proggy-heavy-metal-rock with kind of a stoner tinge to it.

We play in Eb standard and drop-C# --- about a 50/50 split.

all my guitars are tuned down to C G C F A D

occasionally i'll add more C's - C G C G C C or C G C G G C

and my acoustics are usually tuned to open G or C

I play in a psychedelic / stoner rock / power trio
