Bought a '67 bassman today!

Hey TGP. Just sharing my latest addition to my amps. (Why can't I say no to a Mid-60's Fender???) This is the cleanest bassman I've owned (and I've had probably 15 over the years...) REALLY clean, I almost thought it was a repro faceplate. Pull the chassis before buying, everything in order... blue caps all there, date stamps, serial number, transformer codes.. Tube chart date stamp puts in in June 1967. whew! I don't get too many closet classic coming across my path. Sounded good, like a bassman should. I will put in some fresh tubes, but was running strong with what he had in there... seller claimed, and it looks to be the original cabinet... i don't think one saw too many bars/smokey rooms... hardly any "bat tan" on the grill cloth... I'll get better pics, but just got her home... here she is!

A 67' Bassman? Wow, that's a loooooong amp!

Seriously, nice score. One of a handful of Fender amps I like.

I have a '67 as well - A21788. Whenever my hard hitting drummer sees it, he blanches. He can't keep up with the beast. Man, I love my bassman. Welcome to the bunch!

Very nice bassman. My very late '67/early '68 SF bassman is one of the few amps I regret selling.

Nice score- was this an Ebay buy?

I am hunting a 100watt Bassman to get a Fuchs mod done on- I have one of his 50 watt Bassman ODS mods and it's stunning.

If I can find a blond piggy- I'll keep that stock!!

Mind sharing what you paid?

That one is in great shape! When did Fender switch to the vertical cabs? My 1965 model has the horizontal cabinet.

vertical "oversized" cabs i THINK were started mid '67... i have one of the "normal" sized from '66, a blonde from '63 and (gasp) 3 of the bigger ones from 67-68... I actually prefer the bigger ones, I like that it gets the sounds up off the stage/floor, and is easier to get to for adjustments, and they are big but not very heavy. I got this off CL, not a steal on the price, but dang it was sooo clean and sounded so good. paid just under a grand for it.

Yeah I had one of those cabs, just like that one ans when I finally sold it I lost too much $$$ on it, I like the smaller ones a whole lot more.
