Alnico speakers, tell me about them (Jensen Blackbird).

I've always been curious about Alnico speakers, but the price, and mainly the power handling, has steered me away. Now I see the Jensen Blackbird Alnico at 100 Watts and I'm curious. Currently, I'm using a Maz 38 and Mesa Express heads through a 2x12 cab with Eminence speakers (Swamp Thang, Lil' Texas). I play in a rock cover band. 20% of the time clean, 80% with an OCD overdrive pedal with the gain fairly high. Would this Alnico do anything for me, or is it more for clean players with lower watt amps? I always picture these in vintage amps, playing oldies, or in a boutique head with low gain. Would it work well in a 2x12 cab with a ceramic partner, playing with moderate gain?

No one?
How about the Celestion Gold, or other higher powered Alnicos?
What style of music are they best suited for?

I like the blackbird but it is dark sounding. for a higher wattage alnico the gold is more transparent, IMO.

I like the Blackbird, I had one in my Maz 18 but now it's in a Mod 50 combo. Sounds wonderful but I like a dark tone.

O.K. How about Blackbird, Celestion Gold, and Scumnico in terms of tone? Yeah, I doubt anyone has all three (who can afford them), but obviously tone is a major factor. One difference, from the specs is that the Scumnico has a lower spl rating. Meaning, it's probably not as loud as the others, at the same amp settings. I should probaby consider the Eminence Red Fang too. I like Eminence, and it's the least expensive of all the Alnico speakers. I play mostly with some overdrive (OCD pedal), so that's a concern as well. I've read that Alnicos don't always go well with lots of gain, but I have no experience with them.
