Question Interesting Situation...

I find that after a while, I will get a lick down perfectly, and will be able to jam on it with my band for days. Soon after, however, I feel as though I am not hitting the notes as well, and having problems with all of my licks including hitting notes hard enough with my pinky. Do I need to just take some time off, because when I take like a few weeks off I find that I come back better. Please help

It might be just a mental thing. If I play the same thing over and over again, I just get flat out tired of it after a while and it doesn't sound/feel as good as I thought it did at first. If I come back to it later, it sounds and feels different. If you mean you physically can't play it any more, then there's always hand/finger exercises to help your endurance.

do you practice sitting down and play standing up, I notice things change, started practicing standing up to keep it like I am playing.

It seems physical at times, but I am sure its mental. Are there any manditory mental states to get into before playing to maximize potential?

This all happens to me too. I think it's physical and mental. I just try to ignore the fact that stuff I could rip out yesterday doesn't sound as good today, for some reason. I learned to not sweat it. The brain functions in mysterious ways.

Learning on guitar is not linear, and we seem to grow/develop more in spurts. I am not a fan of taking time off, but of pushing thru. YMMV

but i feel like my fingers aren't hitting the strings hard enough now and they used too. I find that with my thumbs for some reason, this does not happen. I feel also as though I have lost speed in my legato. Sometimes time off works, like an artist takes time off from painting to gather the mind. Any thoughts?

and sometimes it is almost like relearning the riff, like I never played it even though I have millions of times.
