G&L ASAT - Is cutaway wider than Fender tele?
Just wondering because I have a problem with the cutaway on a tele. It's not wide enough for my hands and the position in which I play.
It seems from the pictures I've seen posted here and other places the cutaway might be wider than a Fender tele. True? If so, by much? Just wondering if it's worth pursuing. I don't have any G&L guitars within reasonable driving distance from me. |

If you find the ASAT easier to play, it may be because the fretboard sits higher off the plane of the body than you will find on a stock Tele.
But I cannot promise you it will matter enough. I mean, that's just the start. I don't know if you will like the neck section, and even with the necks being CNC'd and Plekked now, each G + L guitar IMO varies more in how it responds to you. I have 5 G + Ls and I played each one extensively before I bought it. I can't visualize not doing that, unless it was stupid cheap or something and I could flip it. |
