looking for fender style overdrive in a pedal

Hey guys, looking for that pushed fendery overdrive, where you can still here all the nuance of your guitar, just a nice mild crunch. Tried a bunch of OD's, but none are quite there. Xotic BB came close, but still had sort of a bit of honk to it. I think I'm after more in the low mids if that makes sense.
Thanks for the help,
Kurt

KoT will definitely get you there!
I think you need a pedal that is more open sounding, not as compressed. The BB is compressed in my ears.
Maybe a Barber Ltd as a cheaper alternative. Or a Menatone Red Snapper.

Thanks, I did have the LTD SR, but maybe the regular would be a good try. I wondered if the OCD falls in that camp? Agreed on the BB, very compressed.

I think the Les Lius pedal by Lovepedal is a cranked Fender sound.

I believe the Tonebone Classic is all about Fender overdrive.

Depends on the Fender era you want. There are several "tweed" era pedals like the above-mentioned Les Lius, Greer Ghetto Stomp, etc. EVen the Red Llama clones are a tweed era dirt flavor. For blackface sounds there are a few like the BarbEQ which works best with a tweed amp that is lacking in tone controls to add the tone stack of a blackface era. Greer also makes a Brown Bomber that does the brown era Concert. Remember none of them are 100% and the amp is really the biggest factor plus nothing can totally replicate a real amp with cooking tubes.

Surprised to see the mentions of KOTV4 and BB, I find those to have much more of a British amp voicing.

I'll have to say that the Mad Professor Sweet Honey Overdrive does an excellent job at simulating a tweed amp.

When you say "Fender" do you mean BF or tweed?

If you didn't like the BB, how about the AC+? I like the right side of my Jetter Jetdrive for a "cranked Fender sound". Of course I use it into a BF Fender style amp.

Have the AC, and it's my main overdrive, but it excells at the mid pushed thing, and I want a bit more openness. Haven't tried the + yet, though the clips give it a raspy quality that didn't appeal to me. Thinking of more blackface tones but with some gain, did try the barbEQ, not really what I wanted though. I'm using two home built amps, one's loosely based on a tweed circuit the other in the BF camp, but I run them clean for funky stuff. Just been listening to a lot of roots stuff lately, and hearing cranked vibrolux type tones.
Thanks,
Kurt

If you're looking for blackface tones the Mad Professor Sweet Honey overdrive is an excellent choice. Haven't tried any other OD that did the blackface thing...

If you are looking for the pushed tweed thing this is a hard one to beat.

pushed blackface? A good one under the radar is the Tone Factor/Mojo Hand Copperhead, keep the left side volume in check but crank the right side, it's a JFET dirt/pushed BF party. Smokes! No longer made, but they pop up used occasionally.

The Lovepedal "Super Six" was designed to emulate a Fender Super reverb at it's sweet spot....and it does. I have one here I hardly use, since I mainly use Fenders, or 6L6 amps....I'm gunna sell it, it's like new and he stopped making them. PM me if your intereste it is EXACTLY what you described. Frankie
