Smile Mark Jenny Allparts Guitars

I was perusing eBay and saw the (another) guitar of my dreams. Mark Jenny thin nitro aged Jazzmaster using Allparts parts. Does anyone have any opinions of the Allparts guitars? Anyone bought a full kit from Mark Jenny? Like it? Love it? Hate it? I'm about to bite the bullet on this one and maybe a neck, or maybe a Warmoth neck with some amazing rosewood..

I'm not familiar with the MJ kits but the man has a reputation to uphold, so I doubt they're crap.

Also, All Parts makes fine necks and bodies. I've used and sold quite a few of their necks without a problem.

Mark's bodies are made by Wildwood Manufacturing in California and he uses Allparts necks. I've purchased necks and bodies from him, always high quality.

I got a MJtele from the emporium and I love it. Really nicely done and the body and neck are both great. I love the feel of the neck. Apparently mine is both allparts body and neck that was sent to MJT for paint/relicing.

I'm glad you have it fenced in. I hear they'll terrorize the neighborhood, chasing little old ladies and biting school teachers.

Only Telecasters do that. Les Pauls spend all their time primping themselves in a mirror and are afraid to go out because their headstocks might snap off. And Strats just wish they were Teles.

I think K-Line and maybe a few other builders use Allparts stuff right? If so, I imagine the quality is very high.

I have a full kit that I ordered from Mark Jenny about 8months ago. Tele, double bound, surf green, rosewood board.
Abosultely fantastic guitar! I'll be ordering another as soon as I get more cash saved up.

Here are a couple pics:

Great guys to work with, not the cheapest, but their attention to detail and willingness to jump through hoops and get you what you want makes the extra expense worth it. I wanted a lake placid blue that was more green than blue, my perception of how an old LPB strat should look after years of smoky bars. Matt ran out and shot pix of my body in variuos lighting conditions after each spray coat was applied, and then through it's phases of yellowing to get a darker, greener LPB.

The results were spot on!

I'm about to put together a replica of a Fender CS '63 telecaster. Standard telecaster bridge pickup and a humbucker in the neck position.
Musikraft will supply the neck and body (which will be routed for a strat single coil in the middle - just in case I wanna go for a Nashville-Tele look sometime in the future) and MJtele will do the finish and aging (vintage blonde or shell pink, haven't decided yet).

When did MJt switch from Allparts bodies to the ones their getting from Wildwood Manufacturing?

Wow, that Tele's damn sexy. If the JM works out for me, I'll surely be pursuing my dream Tele in the very near future. I've always salivated over the idea of a Lake Placid Blue Tele with rosewood board.
