Scorpions hanging it up

Just saw this -

Quote:
BERLIN — The German rock band Scorpions is bringing down the curtain on a career spanning more than four decades.
The band, known for its early 1990s hit "Wind of Change" among others, said on its Web site Sunday that "we agree we have reached the end of the road."
It said it would end its career with a final album – "Sting In The Tail," to be released in March – and a tour that will start in Germany in May and take it across the world "over the next few years."
Guitarist Rudolf Schenker founded the band in Hanover in 1965. Singer Klaus Meine joined a few years later. Both men are 61.

They've had a hell of a run. And it is good to have a sense of when it is time to hang it up.

Didn't know they were still together. Great band, great songs, and some seriously talented guitar players!

Would be cool if they did it like Thin Lizzy did - have all the past members, especially the guitarists, take the stage together in the final shows.

Great band and though they had some great lead players, Rudy is what made the band for me. One of the greatest rhythm players ever. Rudy gave those great lead players a killer foundation to work with.

Yep, he is also the founder of the band (in 1965). Meine joined in 1969. They wrote most of the material together.

They were one of my favorite bands growing up in the 80's. Jabs will always be a guitar hero to me. Got to see them on Van Halen's Monsters of Rock Tour in and again with MOtley Crue's Maximum Rock Tour in the late 90's. Both times they were the best band on the bill. Very tight sounding & energetic. True pros that enjoyed every second they were onstage. WOrld Wide Live is one of the best live records ever made.
Hopefully, they'll come nearby and I can see them one last time. They've had a stellar career. Legends indeed.

That would be too cool and i hope it happens...Mathias might feel a bit overmatched though, especially when Uli Roth comes out

Scorps are one of my all time favorite bands. They did have a great run and really have nothing to prove at this point. I will have to make sure I see this last tour out of respect for the music they offered the world.
