Why are most older DOD pedals missing battery covers?
Just curious.
Seen so many DOD's on the Bay with, "sorry no cover, but hey, it wouldn't be a DOD if it did!" ![]() LOL!!

Because these pedals were badly designed in that regard. Its just a piece of loose plastic afterall.

Yeah. I was wondering why they were any worse than all the other plastic battery covers by other company's, but apparently DOD's were quite shoty.

I've got tons of them on my pedal room floor. They always fall off, and the battery compartments are pretty shoddy too.

I've always heard it's because they break easily. That's probably the case, but I've bought plenty of DOD pedals secondhand and, oddly enough, I've never had one missing the battery cover.

I am waiting for a DOD FX70 Flanger (1982) that I got off the Bay! Great Flanger (my Bass player from 1982-1984 used one and it was a huge part of his sound.) They are very smooth and organic sounding compared to later models.
Also, I just got one of the best Chorus's that I have ever heard (again a 1982 pedal that my bass player John Savone used) , the 460 Mini Chorus has Mo Jo like I have never heard..it is so warm and has a boost in the peak that makes the instrument sound better (got to accept the hiss that comes along with it though!) DOD made some awesome pedals in the old days (early 1980's.)

I'm guessing that someone could make some money by selling replacement battery covers.Btw,does DOD sell replacement covers?

They sound better with the plastic covers off......
![]() Yeah, not a good design. A tiny little plastic tab holds the battery cover on. It either breaks or wears down pretty quick, rendering the cover useless until you duct tape it back on. Mojo baby!!!
