Stupid question: Can a guitar become unplayable after years of not using it?

is it possible or not? for example, neck warping because of non use for many years, to the point where the guitar is unplayable.

A neck could warp after many years, but it wouldn't be because it wasn't played. It has much more to do with the condition in which it was stored. Humidity changes, temperature changes, etc.

No, in my opinion its not possible for a neck to warp from it not being played for a period of time. Depending on the quality of the product of course.

If the guitar was stored tuned to concert pitch, and temp/humidity changes occur on a consistent basis, yes it is possible. This has to occur occur many months.

Not only the condition of storage, but was the neck fully set before the guitar was put away. If a guitar maker made a guitar with an unproperly dried/cured neck, then it could warp over time just on its own.

Barring poor construction, I'd say it depends on the conditions in which the guitar is stored. Somewhere with a lot of humidity and temp changes? You could see your neck warp, frets getting pushed up from the fretboard, pretty much the whole gamut.

It's possible, but the probability of it happening will depend on a set of factors including the build quality of the neck/guitar, and the environmental conditions of the area it was stored in (especially in regards to temperature and humidity consistency).
