Thumbs up Stomp Under Foot CWM Civil War Muff Clone Review

Hello GearPage!

I wanted to give my shout out to the Stomp Under Foot company!

I was recently bit by the fuzz bug lately. I have had a EH Green Russian Muff since the mid 90's but never really played it much all because it sounded like a box of mud.

After reading another review on the Stomp Under Foot Civil War Muff clone I decided that this might be more of a sound I might be looking for.

Let me tell you it's an amazing pedal. The tonal versatility is exactly what I was looking for. I can get heavy sounds like Chevelle, AiC or pumpkins, but also the leads are amazing! For once I'm getting some Gilmour sounds out of that box.

Matt makes the pedals and is very customer service oriented. I had questioned about the difference of the pedals, and he steered me in the right direction.

And the price? Thats the icing on the cake! $140! Compared to all the other clones around this has to be the most affordable deal in town.

So yes, last week this little bundle of joy showed up on my doorstep...

#13!

A+ Thanks Matt!

I got one of these from an Emporium deal last week. #1, in fact. It's a great Muff!

Since I started playing guitar again about 4 years ago (after a 10 year hiatus), I had two Muffs and didn't like either. I've also owned probably 20 different dirt boxes in the past couple of years. Then, a month or so ago, I got Matt's Violet Ram's Head clone. That was the pedal I've been waiting for!

Getting a good Muff was really the key to sound I've been wanting for a long time.

i agree. i have a drawer full of distortion/od pedals and they all are real crap in comparison to this one. using it in combination with my boss me-70 (comp, chorus, delay, etc... ) really makes it shine. I wonder what SUF I should get next? The violet was my other choice....... hmmm....

The VRH is different enough from the Civil War if you want two Muffs.

Fantastic clips, and price. I'm getting my brother one for his birthday, and I have got to say, Matt is hands down the nicest guy I have ever emailed, pedal manufacturer or acquaintance. He's getting enclosures in this week, and I would have totally been okay with getting the pedal after my brother's birthday (His birthday is on the 21st), and Matt assures me it will be here in time. This guy is a gentleman and a scholar! You just don't get that with anyone else!

don't forget matts triangle, man that thing is so smooth, great harmonics, warm with so much on tap its scary. Seems like when I usually get a drive/fuzz pedal I always wish it would go to 11, well this one goes to 15. I guess Matt knows what he is doing!!!!!!

Yup Matt makes good pedals and is a pretty coll a$$ guy. His customer service is top notch. My VHM has something wierd going on with it after having it for about 2 weeks. I let Matt know, he said send it back. Long story short he had it back in the mail to me 2 days after he got it. Les than a week total. Not bad turn around for being on sepaerate coasts.

But most importantly his pedals are great. And he's coming out with some pedals other than fuzzes; delay, phaser and a few others. I can't wait to see what he has planned.

I bought a Violet Rams Head on ebay and I love it. It is loud with tons of bottom end and sustain. I am interested in the Hellephant or the Halobender next.
