Digital recorder vs Looper
I am a newbie at digital recording and loopers so I've got a basic question. I was thinking of picking up an H4 to record some backing tracks I could jam to for fun. You know rhythm guitar, Bass & Drums. It seems like the Digitech Jamman pedals have a pretty robust recording capability that would allow me to do about the same. What considerations should I take into account when comparing these two devices or are they made for separate purposes?
Thanks, Paul

They're made for different purposes.
H4 = "Field Recording", ie. recording a room with its builtin mics or hooking up external mics. JamMan = Foot pedal that will loop a phrase from your instrument or mic (depending on the model) and let you overdub or play along while the loop is playing. I have JamMan and my only gripe is that they didn't add mp3 playback on the new models. Instead you have to play the mp3 into the JamMan. I'm thinking of selling mine. Its like new in the original box with optional footswitch. PM me if interested.

Korg's new Sound On Sound recorder might be worth a look. It's a recorder that will record to as many tracks as you SD card can handle. It also has some looping functions.
