250k volume pedal reduces gain better then 500k volume pot?

I like the way an EB vp junior (250k ohms) reduces the gain from my BSIAB2 better then the Volume pot(500k ohms) in my dual humbucker guitar. It seems to reduce the gain much more smoothly. Why? I have tried a treble bleed mod on the guitars pot but didn't particularly like it. Should I just put a 250k pot on guitar? I have it wired with one volume no tone control. I don't want to use the volume pedal.

If you put the pedal between your guitar and the amp, you effectively have a 166.7 kOhm volumepot installed. The pot in the guitar and in the pedal are in parallel.

So, to mimic that situation you could put a 250k pot in the guitar with a 500k resistor soldered across it.

The taper of the pedalpot probably is different too, so that also has it's influence.

This isn't as far-fetched as it sounds. You can install no-load pots and have it both ways.
