May 23, 1975 G12H30 8 ohm 30w w/1777 cone. Looks right from the pics in the link. Worth $150-225 USD, depending on how it sounds.

Today I had the possibility to have a look at a probably 1972 Marshall cab. It contains four speakers with the same serials. ( The two bottom are 55Hz, the two top 75 Hz)
G 12 M, 16 ohm, 25 W, stamps on the basket T 1221 DE S
I did not find a match for DE S. If it means April 1972 what does S mean ? It should be a number.
Can you help me to identify this speakers ? Thanks.

You've got most of it, just missing which day in April 1972 they were made. The "S" is an inspector's stamp or initial. What really matters is if they still have the original 102 3 cones in them, you need to check that. Go back to page 1 & 2 of this thread to find out where.

If they're all T1221, then they're all 75 hz cones, not 55hz. Sounds like someone put on the wrong label at the factory, or later on if they fell off. That's fairly often it seems.

I have to decide wether to buy or not the following wrack.

JMP 50 - 1972

Orig. red now painted black.
Replaced, ugly power and ot. transformer
Missing choke
Of course all tubes, capacitors pure quality,
Some not original tube sockets
Power cord, fuse housing not original
Beautiful original p2p board ( 1 resistance and 1 cap not original )

4x12 slant cab - 1972
never seen such a worn down cab.
I found corpses of mice inside (2) That is true !!
Missing handle. One handle plastic
4 Celstion G 12 M, 25W, 16 ohm speaker ( 2 labelled 55Hz, 2 75Hz)
All four stamps say: T 1221 DE S. 102/3 on all four cones.
One cone broken or hurt radial, but glued together and it works.

Im thinking about the highest price it's worth to pay for. I am not a dealer, would like to use it.

Damn, that's beat up. That cab is potential firewood, based on what I'm seeing in the pics. Are those huge chunks of wood missing at the angle of the front edge?

At the very least you need to get some handles, and if the cloth is touching the cones, that will create a buzzing noise.

I wouldn't pay more than $700 for the cab including the three good speakers and the one that needs to be reconed. Based on the cab condition, I'd have to wonder if the other speakers aren't worn out, too. I'd strongly advise you to try them with a 50w (not a 100w!) amp before you pay any money.

As for the amp, it's most likely a 100w, and if it's been used at higher volume (over 4 on the volume knob) with this cab, then the speakers are probably worn out/beat up, sound tired, or are already blown, or really close to it.

You'd have to take this on as a project, and figure on lots of repair $$. I wouldn't offer more than $1200-1300 for both of them based on what you've said and the pics.

I'm glad to read your opinion Jim. We agreed with the price 1450, but the seller is a friend in trouble, so I'm ready to pay a few bucks more.
The amp is a 50W model (2xEL34) and it works and after all the whole wrack sounds good.
First I buy handles, put 4 non Marshall, plastic protection grills on. Replace the tubes and caps. transformer stay, becouse they work.
I take it to a gig the day after tomorrow
Thanks.

Could a 1971 GREENBACK having a speaker cone numbered 44 444 007 be original or is it a recone?

Not likely. If it was original it would have a different cone #. It depends on what Txxxx frame code it is. So you'd need to send me pics (under 500k each please!) of the speaker in question including front of the cone, cone #'s, Txxxx area, and back of the speaker (label/cover area).

I show pics of the cone #'s back on the first 1-3 pages of the thread. So if you don't see one of them on your cone, it's likely been reconed, greatly reducing it's value (like to 1/4th of an original).

sure, Ill take some pics (under 500k). Its a T1221 - AD date codes, and 44 444 007 cone code - sounds like recone to me - bummer. wonder what year it was reconed?

rare Pulsonic bass cones

Adding to the wealth of knowledge on this great thread...

Found 'em in a 1972 Marshall Artiste 50 Watt 2x12 combo.

Both date codes CE = March 1972 (no numeral indicating day). Inspector "W"

One has a 102 30 cone, the other has a 102/ 30 cone.

Spiders look like bass cone types, with 5 ridges. Tone is consistent with this... AMAZING. Jim, I read somewhere you saying these are 50 Hz cones? Any more info?

Oh and yes, I got that staple out of there
