I was down at Mike's shop yesterday and I got to try the Astrotone. I liked it! I definitely want to get one at some point (but I guess that's kind of a given ).

I just skimmed the article, and was still left wondering how it cleanup up with guitar vol. Anyone know?

Yes, it cleans up really well. It's not a super fuzzy fuzz to begin with. It worked almost like a Rangemaster type boost when we played it through the Marshall...
