strat replacement neck is longer then original

i just got a replacement strat neck on ebay.its around 5/16" longer than the original.can i use it? email me at strat1953@aol.com thank you

5/16" longer from heal to nut? If so then no won't work.

If you cannot return the neck....

You can plug the 4 holes on the neck and redrill them.
after first shaving down the NECK's lower heel area by the needed amount to make it 'shorter'.

You have nothing to lose, as long as you don't alter your guitar's body in any way.

He might have got one of the necks with the extra fret where the fretboard hangs over the pickguard at the edge of the neck pocket.

What counts is the distance between the saddles and the nut and the widths of the frets.

Measure those. If they're the same +/- small fraction then you're fine.
