Reverbarato or Vintage Fender reverb unit?

Got a rare chance to buy a 64 Vintage brown face Fender reverb unit... Also I have a chance to buy a Victoria Reverbarato unit for about $500 more bucks. Both units are great condition however, the Victoria is like new. The Fender is super clean and very original with two prong plug very clean for a 46 year old reverb unit... Both sound amazing!!! What should I do? Time is not on my side

Reverb decisions

Go for the Fender unit. Both will do the job well. The Vic is probably bulletproof as all the Vic products are. But the Fender will hold its value and probably increase over the long run.

Do you need/want the vibrato?
Claytone is right that the Fender is only going to appreciate, but those Victoria are awesome and will do the same eventually.
Play both and see which sounds best-I bet they'll be pretty different-

and i bet you go Brown.

I would go for the Reverberato b/c it also has the very cool Brownface Fender Harmonic Vibrato in addition to reverb. That's the only outboard unit I'm aware of that has that type of "tremolo" (maybe the clark wateree?)

That being said there are a couple cool pedals out now that cop the harmonic vibe sound (fuch creme de la trem, toadworks pipeline) for less then the $500 difference between those two units.

The trem on the Vic is not on the output stage of the amp and sounds different than a true amp vibrato. Not that it's bad, it's simply different. The vintage fender reverb if or when fully restored to its glory will be by far the best choice. There is something so special about them that words don't do much good. it's a tough choice but go with the vintage vibe if you're looking for it.

Thanks, it's a tough call because the Fender is a sound thats all on it's own! When you hear reverb on a classic blues song or surf from all the classic surf bands or just great jump swing from pop to rock it's been done on a Fender reverb unit... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm???

I'd vote for the Victoria too. It's like magic.

But I warn you, you'll end up wanting to put tremolo on everything.
