Strat classic player 50.. how good

Can you find a good sounding one (wood, acoustically etc... not pickups)?

Or upgrades required?

Or go for a different strat?

I love my CP 50. There are a number of 'upgrades' that make it special. It plays fantastic. When I bought it, I tried a number of strats (American and Mexican) and ended up getting American quality at a Mexican price.

I bought one a couple of years ago and I haven't looked at another Strat since. Its soft-V neck is the best I've played. I did try a bunch of different Fender Strats (Standard, American, Jimmie Vaughan, Eric Johnson, Custom Shop, Deluxe, used MIJ, and others) before buying the CP 50 and I found that in that price range (and, for the most part, even at twice the price), I couldn't find another model I liked better. The EJ and Custom Shop models were higher quality, but at 2-3 times the price, I went with the CP 50, had the pickup selector wired back to standard, and a tremsetter installed. No regrets!

Agree with all of the above; neck is great, modern radius. The only thing some may not like is the modern 2-point bridge but I like it. Fit and finish are very good and the pups are Fenders' 57/62's, which are always good IMO!!

Here's a pic of mine just after I got it..........it is my '54 clone complete with the short-skirt knobs and rounded pup covers. (yes, it does have strings on it now!!)

Seems like you bought MEXICAN quality at mexican price.

Don't give american made products a quality tag when the mexican counterpart is obviously superior.
