firefox 3.6 - any way to disable the "Clear Private Data" dialog

I've been upgrading FF from the latest 2.x Version (2.0.0.20) to 3.6.

In V 3.6, when you want to clear the private data via - Tools- "Clear Private Data" there's a dialog box that pops up every time and you have to confirm.

Is there a way to turn this off in the about:config or does someone know if there's add-on?

In FF version 2 you could turn it off in the "privacy settings" by unchecking the "Ask me before clearing private data" checkbox. In the privacy settings of 3.6 you can't.

Thanks

Are you talking about clearing browsing history?

I'm talking about clearing "private data", i.e. browsing history, cookies, cache etc. via

- Menu - Tools - "Clear Private Data"

In V 2. you could turn off the annoying dialog box window that wants you to confirm by unchecking the "Ask me before clearing private data" checkbox in the "privacy settings".

In Firefox 3.6 go Tools>Options>Privacy>Settings and check/uncheck what you want to do.

Thanks, but you can't uncheck the ""Ask me before clearing private data"" anymore because they left it out in 3.6.

The pop-up I get isn't just a confirmation, it specifically ask what you want to clear (cookies, cache, history, etc).

Still couldn't see "clear private data"

But in tools, various options, you can clear everything, you can set it up not to save anything or ask it to delete everything when you exit the browser... so I'm still not clear what exactly you're asking.

What is it you want to do - specifically - that you can't discover how to do?

OK.

Before, it was like this:

i.e. you could UNCHECKED "Ask me before clearing private data".

Yes but there is no need for that box now as you yourself have the option to choose what and when you delete or don't delete by checking unchecking the various boxes. I really don't see what your problem is.

I can see no images above, anyway, this is the "problem":

When I go Tools - Clear Recent History, I HAVE TO CONFIRM. You didn't have to confirm anything in V 2.x for years since you could TURN OFF that damn confirmation dialog box by unchecking "Ask me before clearing private data" in the privacy settings, which I found very useful.
Now this doesn't work anymore since in the "improved" V. 3.6 that feature has disappeared.

Of course in a sense it's no big deal, but somehow it pisses me off that today in every new version of something usually some useful features are gone and instead they replace it with a bunch of new features that are useless.

It isn't asking you to confirm IMO.

It's purpose isn't to state "are you sure you want to clear data", but rather "what data (and how far back) do you want to clear".

It is, I have to push the "clear now" button.

Anyway, let's forget it....
