I just bought a Traynor YCS50 Combo and have been trying to decide what tubes to go with. Any suggestions???
TAD 6L6WGC-STR and Tung-Sol 12AX7 VS Electro-Harmonix 6L6GC and JJ ECC83-S 12AX7 VS JJ 6L6GC and JJ ECC83-S 12AX7 VS Your Preference |

I would try and send Doug an email (with details on what you're trying to go for with your amp) over at http://www.dougstubes.com/ and see what he recommends. He's always pointed me in the right direction when it comes to new production tubes.

SED Winged =C= 6L6GC and TungSol re-issues are my favorite combination. Nice clarity overall. TungSols are a bit in your face though, Penta Labs Chinese Shuguang 9th generation are cool too and a bit more balanced. Really depends on your amp with the preamp tubes though. I like a Sovtek LPS in the phase inverter too. IMO, JJ pre-amp tubes sound dead and lifeless.
