Red face So, working on my attitude...

I've been trying to work on my negative attitude towards society as a whole. I had a doctor's appointment this morning. After vrooming around all the bluehairs going 25 in a 40 and the oversized SUV/trucks struggling to make turns without signaling, I made it to the doctor's office. I find 3 spaces, can't park in any of them thanks to the jackasses that refuse to park between the lines. While in the doctor's office, waiting in my 3rd waiting room, I realize my behavior and immediately calm myself. Life is too short, find the fun. After leaving (and having to correct the "kid's" running the place that made THREE errors), I sat in my car and took a deep breath having failed at my attempt to chill out and be cool. I look up and see a different set of 3 empty parking spaces, again...none anybody could park in because of another set of jackasses that can't seem to fit their car between two lines.

Then I finally find the humor in it. No, they can't see the lines. I was at the eye doctor.

Success.

NOT being mean, I promise!! Here goes my 'opinion'

I have found, (as I was very much like what you have just described...ALL THE TIME),
that the root of the problem lied withing myself.

Good luck finding the root and killing it. Baby steps, but steps none the less. : )

don't sweat the small stuff...I find that people tend to park by centering thier cars between each other and not the lines. Only an a-hole or Mr Monk would center the car even if it meant banging the other cars doors.

Yeah but there was probably some guy waiting for your space while you contemplated.....and he was wondering what was up with the jackass not leaving.

My passenger door normally ends up with in a few inches of their driver side door. I feel I'm doing the world a favor by teaching them a valuable lesson.

Red face

I'm having an AWFULL time controlling my anger at the moment.Won't go into any reasons, but got up and dumped out my coffee all over the table,(intentionally) out at breakfast this morning because I felt like the waitress made a smartass remark.Fortunately, the cook who started out towards the dining room wanting to be a 'hero' saw my size, and facial expression,(I was NOT in a playing around mood!) and thought better than to proceed,as it could have gotten REAL ugly!!! I'm getting far too old for this kind of shit!I'm also pursuing the counseling/medication route,as I'm a 'rapid-cycle bi polar bear'.

It's also just a flat out FRUSTRATING time for a whole lot of people right now.Best of luck, and feel free to PM me if you ever want to talk!

EDIT...I just re-read,the OP's post,SLOWER,and realized my response here isn't all that relevant, but I'll let it stand as maybe somebody has some tips/advice for me...PM open to any/all who want to 'talk'!

Hey... I feel your frustration! Seeing where you live... 'any chance some of that could be related to Seasonal Affective Disorder? I don't know what part of Ohio you live in, but where I live, we had ONE whole day of sunshine during February! I feel like I need to kill or destroy something. I also recently read in the Cleveland Plain Dealer that a lack of sunlight causes a vitamin D deficiency (ALL sorts of medical implications) that CAN'T be compensated for by pills or food. It has to come from the sun!

I'm going for a long walk this afternoon. It seems to help somewhat.

I did this once, almost got my ass kicked over it. This coach from a nearby high school had pulled up to get some carry-out pizza in his oversized truck. In his "I don't give a @#$%" parking job, he managed to make the absolute last parking space in the strip mall damn near impossible to get in. I was in my daily driver so I didn't care about dings or damage, so I pulled in anyway, knowing that he would not be able to enter his driver's side door. Time for coach a-hole to learn a lesson. I took my time getting out because I was looking for a confrontation, one I knew would come but felt (and rightly so) in the right. My car was parked in my space, his was not. So out comes coach, notices he can't get in his monster truck because of my car. Looks up and gives me a go-to-hell look and likely wanted me to run laps or drop and give him 50. I looked at him with confidence, bring it a-hole. "I'm in my space, you're not," I said. He went to his passenger side (where there is TONS of room of course since he has half a space over there) and puts the pizza in the truck and comes back to my side. "F--- you, ---hole," he says and positions himself in a threatening manner. I stand there, smug, unthreatened. He then spits on my car. I smile at him with as much "bring it, f--- face" as I can. Coach has veins popping and enough muscle to beat me well beyond life itself. I don't care, I'm prepared to inflict pain, confident my adrenaline will turn me into a wild badger. I can already see him losing his job over this and getting some time in the slammer for assault. I can see his hatred building and he advances towards me, not to talk but knock my ass out. I see his "ticking timebomb/bomb waiting to happen/anger issues" characteristics. I start to hear my dad's advice from my childhood, "You can be dead right son, watch it." Suddenly an off-duty police officer steps out of the bank next door where he apparently earns a second income and had been watching the events unfold. "Do we have a problem gentlemen?" he says. The coach turns, stops, mumbles something, climbs into his tiny penis monster truck via his passenger door and leaves some rubber.

I entered the bank, thank the officer, then cringe as the pain from the adrenaline dissipates through my legs. I try to avoid confrontation, angst, and road rage now, but it is difficult with the "screw everybody else" attitudes out there.

I suppose the irony of this thread is all this frustration towards "jack-ass" people....and the solution seems to be : be a jackass.....LOL

Driving is truly a lost art. It is far too easy for anyone to get and keep a license in this country. Most (yes most) people are either:

too inconsiderate
too inattentive
too spiteful
or just plain too stupid...........

to operate a motor vehicle safely and courteously.

Driving around here (SWFL) is worse than root canal on a good day.
