Unicorn has arrived !

I bit the bullet and got a Ruokangas Unicorn last week on my birthday. I am totally impressed and enthused. First off , my dealings with Jim at Tradarama were professional and smooth. He gave me fair trade-in value on some gear to help make this happen. He answered all of my questions and went the extra mile to get it shipped overnight on a Friday. Thanks Jim. The guitar is everything I was hoping for. The neck reminds me of a friends 55 Tele but its a little bigger than the Tele and I like bigger necks. This model has a soft V which was requested by Jim for his shop. I believe the standard neck is similar to Gibson. My guitar's neck is slightly smaller than the current Gibson VOS 59. The pickups sound great. On some Pauls I've played the high strings sound a bit thin , but this has a rich balanced tone on all strings and the low E and A are tight. I think Juha Ruokangas did a spectacular job on this guitar. I just had to share my excitement with musicians that appreciate a good instrument and also thank Juha and Jim for what they do.

Man, that is nice! I also got to play a few Ruo's at NAMM, and talked to Juha for a while. Super cool guy. A Unicorn is on my bucket list, so to speak.

The pickups are made in Germany by Harry Haussel . I tried another really good set in the guitar but for this guitar I prefer the stock pickups.
