Good Gigbag for a Les Paul?

Hello

I'm tired of walking around with a big bulky hardcase for my gibson les paul.

I'm looking for a nice (softcase) gigbag that support and take care of the fragile neck.

Something that really can protect my guitar and yet not weigha ton.

I'd like to have a case which I can wear on my back.

Cheers!

I have 3 PRS gigbags...I carry all my PRS's to gigs in them and have had zero issues, and yes I've dropped them more than a few times.

None!!! There is an "unwritten" rule in the guitar world: Do not carry a Les Paul in a gigbag, not today not ever.

YOU might be cautions but what about that idiot next to you?

Having said that....good luck in your search. One more thing if you do find a gigbag please carry the phone # of a good luthier with you at all times.

So are you walking all day with a les paul? I'm confused.

I wouldn't have my gibbys in nothing other than hard cases thats it. Any of my guitars at that.

Couldn't have said it better. I remember buying an SG Standard 20 years ago when they came with a gig bag. I had to have a case special ordered so taking it home in the gig bag was the only option. Putting the guitar in that bag was terrifying.

Stick with the hard shell case.

The only other suggestions would be to get someone to carry it for you or put casters on it.

I've used a "Gibson" gig bag to carry around a Les Paul Studio for the last decade. Yes, I'm carefull, but never had a problem.

Would I carry a big $$ Les Paul in a gig bag? Probably not.

I went to a Johnny A. show a couple of weeks ago and he had 3 of his signature guitars with him and all of them were in Levy's croc gig bags..

With the weight of some Les Pauls, casters might be a good idea

I agree 100% with the majority here: hard cases only for Gibsons. Why take the chance for a slightly lighter case? You can get a decent hard case that is slim and not too heavy. I used to have a SKB molded case for my old Les Paul that was light, not very bulky, and provided great protection. The stock "Gibson USA" case that my current Les Paul came with is really not that bad either.

I transported an SG I used to have in a gig bag once, and remember fearing during the entire trip that something was going to happen to that guitar (ex. slam on the brakes, gig bag and something else in the trunk slide into contact with one another and "snap," there goes the headstock). Luckily I made the trip without the guitar having any issues, but I swore I would never travel with that guitar in a gig bag again.

Listen from the experiences of others: hard cases only for Gibsons.

I use a Roadrunner gigbag that has been discontinued. The best friggin' gigbag I have ever used. I sold it once with a guitar and was lucky enough to find another on TGP by posting a long shot WTB thread in the emporium. I'll try to get picks of it when I get home. I trust my LP's in it no problem, just don't be throwing it around!
