Power supply for DM-2?

What kind of power supply can I use with my old Boss DM-2? I've tried it with the 9v.AC outlet on my power supply. It says it's supposed to take an ACA-120, I've read that they are 12v. Is that 12v.AC, or DC? Anyone know of an easily available wall wart that would work with it, I could live with only having one on my pedalboard's power strip. Thanks in advance.

Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 + The DM-2 requires DC Power 12 volts negative center. If you don't want to spend the $$ for the PP2+ you can probably find an old Boss ACA type adapter on Ebay cheaper than a 12v DC or variable PS from Radio Shack.

You can use regular 9v as long as it's daisychained to another pedal.

Yeah, I just read something about the whole "daisy chained to another pedal. Sounds like I should get 1 of those 1-spot's, and daisy chain a couple things. Thanks everyone.

The ACA-120 is a 12VDC output, unregulated wallwart. Unregulated means the output voltage drops when you begin to load it. Eg. 11V with one pedal, 10V with two pedals, etc, all depending on the current requirements on the particular circuit of course (these are examples, not actual data i've found).

The DM-2 is shunt regulated internally, so it can take a range of input voltages from 12-9VDC. A problem arises when you introduce a voltage too big or too small from the voltage it was calibrated with since it will begin to clip asymetrically (even more so than the normal "dark" tone we love about the DM-2).

In short, its ideal to use the supply voltage that the unit was calibrated with (this goes for any analog delay). In most cases its impossible to know for sure, and i almost always recommend a dedicated Boss PSA-120 (9.6VDC output), especially since the DM-2 is supposed to work with a 9V battery.
