Planning a trip to Hungary: Gadgets
I live in the U.S. So, while I'm in Hungary, I want to use my Blackberry Tour, HP Netbook, and iPod.
Does anyone have any information/tips for me about what to expect? Power: I will need an adapter in order to charge them up, right? The Blackberry has some extra plug adapters that fit in the charger. I don't know if these are for European usage, or what. There is a voltage difference I have to deal with. The Netbook and iPod have no extra plug adapters, so I am sure I would have to buy something to charge these. Any recommendations? Connectivity: Verizon says I can alter my phone plan to allow unlimited data there, with no roaming, etc. So, that should take care of that (they say the SIM card has to be enabled.) The netbook is WIFI enabled. Does that work the same in Europe? Can I just find a hotspot and go for it? |

I didn't think to be skeptical when the Verizon customer service person told me about the plan. Maybe I'll call back and see what the next CSR says. It did sound like he was looking up information specific to either Hungary or that vicinity.
To clarify, he said I have a choice of paying 2 cents per KB, or for $69, the data would be unlimited, and no roaming charges would apply (for data). The roaming charge for phone calls would still apply, but this plan reduces it from $1.29/minute to 99 cents per minute. Text messages would be 50 cents to send, 5 cents to receive, regardless of plan. Thanks for the adapter info. |
