Rosewood board Teles with brass saddles?

Hey all,

I was wondering, all the 60s Teles I see around seem to have steel saddles. However common understanding is that the brass 3 piece bridges are the best sounding ones on Teles, right?

So is it like proven that rosewood board, alder body, steel saddles sounds good and maple board, ash body, brass saddles?

What about rosewood board, ash body, brass bridge? Bad combination?

I just love rosewood boards, but I'm a bit lost as to which Tele is the best for me (apart from the Tylerbaster which is unfortunately out of production and rare as hen's teeth).

That's what I have... sounds really damn fine to me.

You can do whatever combo you want, it won't sound bad. Aside from steel and brass, you can now get aluminum, different grades of steel, and other interesting materials which sound a bit different as well. I've always been partial to brass because it has this beefy kind of rasp to it but steel sounds good too (more direct).

Same here, I have brass on my main Tele. The guitar sounds great.

Ah that's good to hear.

But none of at least the Fender/Custom models seem to come with RW and brass ... maybe someone should tell them?

On the other hand, I guess it's an easy swap.

By the way, my goal is to get something similar to this, although I know the owner won't sell his, but I look so damn happy with it (and oh yes, what a killer guitar)!

(sorry the pic is a bit large)

Rosewood or maple fingerboarded

My Muddy Waters tele is rosewood fretboard, ash body, and brass saddles. It sounds wonderful.

rosewood/alder/brass here (AV 62RI), and it kills for more "rock" twang.
