What cap for a heavier ash Strat?

What cap would you recommend for a heavier Northern Ash Strat? I started with a set of Lollar Blonde pickups (which are killer pickups) they just don't match up well with the wood of this guitar. I love the sustain this guitar has, I just need to tame down the brightness and attack. I know many have been down this road, so I would love to get your input and suggestions. In addition to the cap, I will also be changing the pickups out to a hotter set. I'm considering Lollar Blackface or Suhr FL Standards. Thanks for the help!

Caps don't really care what the wood is, they barely notice what the pickups are. Partly this is because they only come in huge value jumps, and partly because when they matter most, all the subtleties are rolled off. In any guitar, I like .015 caps the best.

Buy a .022, a .033, and a .047. and try them all. They're real inexpensive. And cap experimenting won't harm a guitar.

i dont think changing the cap is going to change tone,, it is going to change the taper from lows to highs

i am wondering how high or lower the pickups are ... many times the lower the better for strats and single coils

i would talk to a custom winder and tel him about your guitar and its natural tone and what you want it to do when you are playing thru a amp

then he can wind you a set of pickups for your guitar and for the way you want your strat to sound

You might check your pots to see if they fall into spec ohm wise or are a little high...

Agreed. My favorite cap for low output strat pickups. Makes everything thicker and rounder while retaining dynamics. Check my emporium ad for some vintage .1's.
