tried both. IMO rebel 20 wins. tried a jet city at a local Sam Ash. it was a 20 w combo. sounded kinda sterile and 'recessed' (if that's a valid amp sound description). egnater was more in your face and after a quick swap of the 1st tube to an amperex bugle boy, i had a pretty genuine hi gain marshall sound.

I would agree....... But would never buy either one of them. I'd rather watch TV then play through a cheap Chinese made piece of Junk. Sorry....
PS: The HC boys would love answering this one.... Its right up there ally.

Didn't you say in some other thread you'd only been playing for a couple of years? If so, you're not exactly a veteran, bucko, and I'm not sure what makes you think that after a couple of years you know better than the numerous veteran players who swear by Egnaters! If you'd rather watch television than play guitar through an amp because it's made in China, I suspect you've got a lot to learn (like, for one, that Egnater makes solid amps regardless of where they're made - have you even played the Rebel 20? If so, please explain why it's Chinese junk). Not to call you out, but I've seen a lot of your specific posts (as in, I read your post and knew it was you who made it before I looked at your username - that takes some doing!) making insulting comments towards random gear due to where it was made without actually expressing any opinions about the gear itself beyond its production and it's making me think that you're one of those Internet experts who doesn't actually have any experience with most of this stuff and just goes around trolling in topics concerning stuff made in other countries.

I would give an honest listen to the Egnater Tweaker. I liked that alot more than the rebel 20.

What this guy said. Seriously. I guarantee he's never even seen an Egnater amp.

I've played thru both the JetCity 20 watt and the Rebel 20 (and Rebel 30) and liked the Egnater better... more clean headroom (JetCity was nice for overdrive to distortion but never cleaned up enough for me). That all being said, I'm actually going to go with the Egnater Tweaker I think... a better match for my personal needs. But all of these amps are great for what they are... you just have to match the right amp to your particular needs.

I played throught the Jet City combo and it has a very nice clean sound (at least at the store volume level I could try... and it has all tube reverb). However you had to spin the amp knobs and lower the mids to do this.

So if you are just working the guitar volume knob and the amp is set for high gain... nope... you wont get great cleans. I am more interested in the combo set to low gain semi clean and getting a good pedal like a bb preamp that has separate bass and treble controls for dirt.

Also want to try the darkhorse by traynor but thats a single channel amp also.

I've played both for short periods of time in music stores. In that limited playing time, I'd have to say that I'd take the Egnater. The Rebel was fuller and bigger than the JC.

My brother has a Jet City JC20 head and plays it thru a Basson 1x12. Its personally not my favorite all by itself, but he has got it sounding pretty good and I will say that it sounds great in a band context and sits in the mix very, very nicely. For the price, its a great amp....not for everyone, but a very nice amp. Looking it over closely, it seems to be very well built.
