'62 Strat experience

So my sister in law has a stop tail '62 Strat that she bought in the early '80s when she was fronting a few bands (great singer!) - they keep it locked away but the last time I was at their place I got to pull it out. It plays great, sounds great, and is a fine light-weight example of why people want them. It's also a candidate to be the poster child for "roadhouse" relicing the old fashioned way!

(I deleted the serial number out of respect for the owner's privacy. It's 775xx)

Is the finish on the back of the neck naturally worn off by playing, or was it sanded at all? Looks awesome.

Doesn't get more beautiful than that!
I so prefer that look, can't stand guitars looking like furniture...

That fretboard ... so dark ...
Are you sure the relicing wasn't caused by that thing that vibrates wood to break it in?

Wow, looks awesome.
Love how dark the board is, I have an early 60s Jaguar that has same almost-black patina.

It would be great to have a vintage-qualified luthier cut a new nut, or find and fit an old one. IMO, that black graphtech one really stands out as a bit of a fly in the ointment.

Thanks for sharing.

Good old fashioned nightly bar gigs by the previous owner(s) is my guess...

She picked this up for ~$800 which was probably pretty expensive back in the day. She has a Tweed champ as well!

man, that's beautiful. my cousin lent me his '61 3TSB hardtail for a decade. it's the guitar that ruined all other strats for me.
