so with the Axe Fx, you're telling me i can do this...?

So is this true? I can use the Rocktron All Access to pull up any 12 patches with only one step? and will it do this seamlessly? no stoppage of sound?

You can set up the All Access so that you can pull up 5, 10, or 15 patches without having to go to the next "page." There will be a brief gap in sound but it's really brief. I forget the exact time it takes but I know some amp channel selectors are slower than the AxeFx.

Not really when you consider everything you're getting. For example, 1 really good tube amp head will cost you almost as much or possibly more. And, all you've got is that one sound. For what you're buying, you'd have essentially tons of amps, world class effects, endless routing and setup capabilities, the ability to totally change your sound to a different rig and have all effects change all at the step of 1 button, etc.

And as for the smooth sound transition when changing between patches, there is an incredibly fast moment where the sound technically interrupts. But, it's barely noticeable and sometimes not at all. Additionally, you can set the reverbs and delays so that they carry over and ring out into the next patch that you go to. So, it can really sound great when switching patches live.

Well, in Europe the price of an Ultra is almost $3000 so I think that you got off lightly.

Cheers,

Not saying the Digitech stuff is on par with the Axe FX, but you can dial in some very usable tones with the GSP1101 and Control 2.

So you could still have your presets for a lot less dough. You could always get the axe eventually and use the Digitech as a controller/backup.

@journo

I feel your pain!

That's why I got mine on eBay. I paid about the same as it would cost new in the US.

But the European prices are far too high in comparison to the us, but there is only one supplier in Europe so no competition.

Cheers

Actually, by the time you figure in import tax's VAT etdc the EU axe's work out about the same as buying from the US.

For us poor sods in the UK it gets worse - were effectivley converting fron $ to EU to £ - which is all bad.

Im lucky. Got mine just as the £ started to crash - Sep 08. Cost me £1130 delivered. They go for more than that used now.

On the plus side, a mate of mine has just got a used Ultra from Canada. Cost him a grand total of £1400 inc shipping/insurance. He also used Paypal and paid the sellers fees just for peace of mind.

all should be fine - and a really good price UNLESS he gets stung in customs. he shouldnt get stung too much if at all as its used goods not new etc. still I dont know the rules so maybe he will !!
