Convert Shotgun Flight Case to Guitar Flight Case?

I had this shotgun flight case laying around in the garage, I dont have the shotgun any more. I was thinking if it would be cool to convert to carry my EBMM Axis instead now? Case is 37.5 inches long, guitar is 36 inches long. Would this work? Im thinking it can if I cut out some of the insulation inside to the shape of the Axis. I have attached a few pic's for you guys to look at, let me know what you think?

I did close the case, to see if those hinges got in the way. Case closed fine, hinges didnt touch the guitar. It would have been a cool thing if it was a tad bigger.
