more gain Clinch EP pre boost or Xotic EP booster

I know the Xotic has more volume, does it have more gain as well?

Not to throw a curve, but everybody I've read on the forums(and me)that own one of these will tell you that the EP pre isn't just about a gain or boost effect. It's really about the subtle but fantastic indescribable something or other that it does to enhance your tone.
Maybe you already knew that. Just making sure. I love mine!I run it at unity gain after fuzzes and or od's.

As Rumblefish said, the Clinch is more about adding color and enhancement vs. a true boost. The Xotic is a true boost with the added voicing of the an EP3. Both are great and I actually keep both on my board for different reasons because I like to keep the Clinch on at all times and then Xotic when a boost for solo. Neither have 'gain'. Enjoy!

Well the Xotic EP can add some gain if your near clipping or a decent amount of gain if your already in high gain territory with the amp. If your totally clean it will add a decent volume boost with possibly a hint of grit. The other I understand is more of a tone enhancer with a subtle boost. If your looking for more clipping your gonna be better off with the Xotic.

The Clinch EP Pre is a close recreation of the Echoplex pre-amp, using a voltage pump and accurate circuit to recreate that sound. It has some boost but it is not intended as a boster.

The Xotic is a space effecient booster with pretentions, but an Echoplex pre it ain't. More boost though for less real-estate.

Take ya pick, but don't be fooled that they're the same thing.
