Carr Rambler and TK Imperial

Anyone played both care to comment on the difference?

Which do you prefer?

Thanks!

I have owned both amps and they are both great. You really can't go wrong either way. Some observations:

- They both have very good reverb and tremolo.

- They are both small and light, and the TK is really light at about 30 lbs. It was the easiest amp I ever owned to carry around.

- The Rambler has the triode/pentode switch, which allows you to drop the volume down and gives you a different tone. I really liked that mode with a Tele.

- The Imperial has the tweed (lead) channel, which sounds great, but is also very loud.

- The Rambler has a mid knob, but the Imperial does not. The Imperial has a mid scooped sound, which you can't really dial out.

- They are both plenty loud for gigging situations. The Rambler probably has a bit more clean headroom.

- Imperial is a 6v6 amp and the Rambler is 6L6. I personally prefer the way 6V6 amps break up.

I've owned both (but not at the same time).

SA pretty much nailed it!
