hey man... after reading several of your posts, you need to cut the sh*t. seriously. All you had to say was "Hey, the best person to ask would be the builder himself, here's his email." you can't display sarcasm on the internet, so excuse me for assuming.

Sad when a self proclaimed "wah guru" can't make a wah as quite as a cheap Dunlop or Vox

Ok, I sent a message to Geoffrey, that gave me the address of the guy that was selling the mu-metal retrofit kits.

I sent him a message, but his mail box is unreachable...

So, back to my previous post : does any of you know a way to find this retrofit kit?

My bad...

Vinceman, look back a page or two. There was a guy who picked one up and was selling some leftover pieces.

BandofThieves...your quick response, albeit a little sharp, is appreciated. I have Geoffrey's email, but sometimes would rather get a TGPers assessment without having to email a builder and bother them. Plus, I like the back and forth that goes on here.

And Ryan...thanks for sticking up for me. But BandofThieves can take care of himself, he is "his own man." Whose else would you be?

I can't use the emotion things when I am on my webtv unit..I surf forums with it.Rarely surf forums with the Dell..So don't be too quick to read in to my posts. wink, wink, smile, smile, thumbs up,etc.....
So what did ya find out about the new Picture Wah? I thought you had a new WOF??
I can tell you that my new picture wah is very quiet as is the new RMC3..But I never had any issues with the older ones either..Geoffrey's wahs just keep getting better and better....Keith

I actually sold the WOF...wasn't an exact match for me. How different is the Pic Wah? I think I want to get the Pic Wah...no knobs to fiddle with. Either its a great wah sound or not. I want to give Teese one more try to win my love and affection. If not, well...there is always another.

Don't worry...all is good.

Count me in on this. I have always loved my RMC3-LE but hated the noise...ended up retiring it for a Bud Wah. If I can get one of these kits I'd be thrilled. Seeing it on the self sucks

I'll email the man myself but I still want to ask, does anyone know if Teese can be pur$uaded to do the mod himself or is he not offering that service?

DK

+1...when I disocvered this "fix" a while ago when I joined TGP it seemed like the last set had been sold. Does anyone still have mu-metal parts left to sell? IIRC it was only being sold in large sheets, and one guy volunteered to cut it into small parts and send out to people (I'm so lazy I can't even read this whole thread right now... ) :eek

Well, I read the whole thing, as I did have an interest in replacing my Bud & hot-rodded VOX wahs w/a Pic. Geoff said that multiple layers of THREE different types of mu-metal are required to adequately shield the inductor against RF interference.

I read elsewhere that his supply of mu-metal has long dried up and he's using a different inductor these days anyway. Apparently, he's been thru' 6 manufacturers for this component over the years!

Both my wahs are dead-silent, BTW, and deliver all the classic tones. I'd consider swapping out your inductor for one w/o noise issues. I've replaced stock Crybaby parts w/red & yellow Fasel RIs (from Dunlop) and it's a really easy install. A lot less complicated than the fix outlined in this thread..

I've sent a message to GSF (who by the way seems to be the man Geoffrey told me about, and that I couldn't reach at the mail address he gave me)...

No answer so far...

I can't believe that there is no way to shield the inductor...
I don't want to swap mine, as I love the sound of my PW...

Yeah, but as important as it is, the inductor's only a small part of the whole *picture* - That's why I gave away my Fasel-loaded Crybabys. I would have had to redo or replace the entire circuit board & maybe the pot as well, to get the sound I was looking for..

Teese's using new inductors in his current production wahs. Couldn't you have yours upgraded?
