Speaker sensitivity rating question

From what I understand the speaker sensitivity depends on how loud the speaker/amp will get. For example I have an 18 watt amp. Which speaker would make the amp louder?

Sensitivity***102

Sensitivity***103

I've done some experimenting with speakers and sensitivity and the general rule of thumb in my experience is: more sensitivity, louder.. Having said that, I don't know that you would be able to hear THAT much difference between 103 and 102..

Both speakers will make you deaf.

The minimum db level difference thats readily apparent by most ears is 2-3 db. A difference of 1 db would be negligible if the ratings are accurate. That said if the ratings are accurate they are both very sensitive as far as guitar speakers are concerned. bob

Was I crazy? I began to wonder, for such an appalling lack of perspective seemed near being just that.

Yeah from all that I have read and experimented with 3db seems to be the only audible differences that you will hear. 102 and 103 are going to be freaking loud.

Agreed. Both of these speakers are very hot. Especially when compared to hi-fi speakers that are often in the 80 to 90dB range.
