Latest Angus Young SG

Anyone had a chance to try the newest one, has an ebony board, Pearly Gates pickups? Just kinda curious, sounds like it would be a very bright guitar.

I wish I could - haven't seen any on 'sale' anywhere as yet...Not sure what the street price would be on this thing but I would love to have one.

I played one unplugged for a few minutes. The nut width is about the same as a Rickenbacker, crazy narrow for a Gibson, felt like a smallish radius too.

Feels great, sounds great. Only thing I didn't like was the price tag.

Yeah, apparently Angus like the really really thin necks as he has small hands...

I saw one today and did a 'wtf' in the store haha. I didn't play it, but the neck looks like its off one of the tenor guitars gibson made in the 60s. REAL small.

I don't think they're going to be selling too many of these to 'players' as that neck size is TINY! 1.55 at the nut, 1 9/16th is like an SG Junior from back in the day and 0.755 at the 1st and .085 at the 12th man that's thin! And I like narrow and thin necks, they're my thing; but in comparison here are my two '67 Gibson w/ 1.55 nut widths:

67 Gibson ES-335
1 9/16" : 1.55
0.835 1st
0.86 3rd
0.935 7th
0.996 12th

67 Gibson ES-330
1 9/16" : 1.55
0.805
0.849
0.924
1.035

I can deal with the "bigger profiles" on these two guitars because the necks are so narrow but the combination of a nearly Charvel thin neck AND a 1 9/16th nut width, people will be tripping all over their fingers trying to play them.

Then again, a lot of folks have vintage Juniors from back in this era and seem to do fine but I always thought their profile's were a little more plump than Angus's specs (but it's been a while). I'd say keep an eye on the used market, it won't be long before they start showing up there...

And I'm a huge AC/DC Malcolm and Angus fan for the record!

I should mention, while it was very narrow, it didn't feel uncomfortably so. I did notice my bends were a bit weird for the first few seconds, but even playing open position chords, I didn't have any trouble at all.
