Steve Morse Covering Page, Clapton, Hendrix, Beatles, Kinks, Blackmore & Others

All in one song. Nice to know he had the same influences as the rest of us!

Pretty cool. I watched a Deep Purple concert on Netflix the other day. Steve tears it up. I would still LOVE to see Blackmore back with Gillian though (Ian still sounds KILLER!)

Morse also does Zappa in this clip...when Ian sings "Frank Zappa and the Mothers..." Glover and Morse come to together and play a little Zappa riff. Can't remember where that line was from though.

Nice catch on Zappa. I knew there was a reference or two I missed because I wasn't familiar with the artist.

One thing I like about Morse his sense of humor comes thru in his playing.

He used to go into the middle section of “Dazed and Confused” during one of his solos with The Dregs.

He also had a medley he did on Johnny Carson with stuff like “Mississippi Queen”, ”My Sharona” in it.

Steve has a cd out called “Major Impacts” and “Major Impacts2” where each song is styled after a classic rock band.

That Zappa quote is "Peaches En Regalia" initially from the "Hot Rats" lp.

Steve covered "Peaches" with Dweezil on some release I don't recall.

The Zappa riff sounds like a tiny piece of Peaches en Regalia.

Thanks for posting. I was lucky enough to see Steve live in action at the DP concert a couple of weeks back. The guy is awesome, and it's great to see a guitarist look like he is having so much fun just playing...

I think what Steve's doing here is paying homage to some the greatest and most recognizable guitar riffs, and players, in history. Or, maybe some of the most inspiration riffs that get guitarist going.

Then he tops it off with the granddaddy...Smoke on the Water.

I doubt there's anything he can't play.Wasn't he a classical guitar major in college?

He's also listed Mahavishnu, & the Allman Bros as influences.

He was a violinist at one point. You can see it in the wonderful independence in his left hand.

I have met Steve a few times, and he is just the coolest guy, and what a player. Great vid, thanks

One of my favorite bands. I love Morse, wish he would venture back into his solo days or his days with the Dregs.

Love Steve Morse, he can play anything. Here's a nice little acoustic jam with another of my favorite musicians.
