My Taylor 814CE is still my favorite, but I recently acquired a HD-28 and that one's been growing on me.

Petros Harvest Prototype. Sweetest guitar I have ever played or owned.

To answer the OPs question, my 'desert island' flat top would have to be my Collings D1A Custom.

I'm really amazed by how many people consider the acoustic that they currently own to be their "desert island" guitar. That's really interesting to me. I've got a '48 LG-2 that really sounds great and I might have a hard time parting with it for it's current monetary value but, would I swap it out for a pre-war D-18? In a heart beat! Having played HUNDREDS of pre-war and war-time acoustics, I know that there are much better things out there. I wish that I had my one and only acoustic. It'd be one less thing to think about.

Many years ago, I played a 1937 D-28 that was a superior guitar. Even then it came with a superior price tag. If I knew it was gonna hold up, and it had already held up for a long time, I believe I'd pick that one.

I have never owned a D-28 though. And sticking with what I know works for me. This one. I am partial to D-18s.

Also a superior guitar...but that D-28 was something.

I've been pretty content with this one (1939 J-35)...though I think there are some others that are as special...they just were not for sale, or in my price range.

my martin hd-28. while I certainly lust after something a little more boutique ala santa cruz or collings and have played some of them the sound better than my martin. however, I have bonded with my martin. It sounds like an acoustic guitar is supposed to sound. It can blast out chords at unbelievable volumes, an yet it is still very touch sensitive. it sounds good in alternate tunings. I actually love the way it sounds finger picked (even more than most 000 models that I've played). Most of all it inspires me to play unlike any other guitar I've ever owned. I've never felt limited by the guitar or it's sound (my playing ability is a different story ) It's basically everything I'd ever need out of an acoustic guitar.

So,this would easily be a Composite Acoustics guitar, probably my Aura-equipped GX.
