cool!

how many metric buttloads of hay would be needed to clean the mess up?
i wonder if it has the same performance in salt water instead of fresh water as domenstrated

Wow, that works pretty well. I would like to see the demonstration with the same raw crude coming from the well but it should still work with a variation. There's no doubt hay could be trawled up once the oil has been soaked up.

This should be researched further by BP and the governments dealing with this. The amount of hay could be calculated per the amount of oil spilled and the cost/benefit determined. The cost of hay will go up but I'm sure there's plenty to clean this up and still feed livestock.

Spreading hay over an area of 2500 square miles in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico is not going to be easy. If it had been done when the spill first started, though, it might have been possible to keep it contained.

Nothing is gonna be easy with this mess however I would be very curious to see how this would work if it was tried.

Better watch it with this thread - I opened another one last night bitchin' about the spill and it got shut down cause it was too political.

I guess you'll be ok unless you mention the responsible parties.

Confused me too... that was a preemptive lock. I don't think the Internet gods here trust our spirit...

I don't get why we can't just set fire to the whole damn thing. I mean honestly, we don't have enough weapons to set that oil slick aflame.

how about a giant centrifuge on a big ass boat sucking up the oil and separating it from the water. Or a big ass vacuum sucking it up right out of the ocean floor.
