Anyone have a StoneAge 2x12B Cab?

I'm a huge StoneAge Cabs fan and have a semi-open 2x12C. Best cab I've ever owned. Looking to possibly pickup/downsize to a 2x12B and looking for feedback/opinions from other owners. You don't hear much about this model. It's a little smaller (and lighter), more along the lines of a standard 2x12. Has anyone compared the B to a C? Thoughts? What's your experience with SA cabs?

Love my Stone Age 2x12 C! There is a guy on the Gear Page that frequents the Carol Ann amp site that knows a TON about Stone Age. His name is J.T. Great guy and I'm confident he could help you. Send him an I.M. Hope this helps you out.

I would call John and speak with him.
He builds 'em, might as well get the info from the horses mouth.
John's very knowledgeable and easy to talk to, a superb gentlemen.

I currently use an Avatar Vintage 2x12 which is similar to the Stoneage 2x12C. I have used an Avatar Traditional, which is similar to the dimensions of the Stoneage 2x12B. IMO, there isn't a great difference but the Avatar Traditional seemed to have slightly less volume, less bass and a bit more mids. Of course to be fair you would have to compare with the same amps, speakers, etc and do an A/B test. I would say overall, there isn't a ton of difference and your choice should mainly be driven by the size of the head your are using and choice of cabinet size. The bigger cab fits the full size heads, is maybe a small amount louder and has more bass but the differences are not great.

Avatar cabs are nice, been there done exactly that. My Stoneage 2x12C blew away the Avatar Vintage 2x12 I had a couple yrs ago. I was looking to stick to a comparison of the Stonage B & C 2x12's.

What did you find better about the StoneAge Cabs vs Avatar?

Avatar was brighter and thinner sounding, fizzier, effects were messier sounding. Stoneage held chords together better and just had better definition. This is with same amp, guitar, cable, speakers, etc. Both cabs were open back as well.

I can't believe I missed this thread. I have a 212B (open back), and absolutely love it. It is much easier to schlep around than the 2x12C type (closed back) I was using. I loaded it with a pair of Jim's H75's and pummel it with a 1987x. This cab sounds bigger and tighter than the O/S cab. I should also mention, I ordered the optional closed back panel (one piece) too, but never even tried it. It sounds that good. Feel free to PM me if you would like specifics.
