Is this riff a complete zz top rip off?

Kinda sounds like it to me, but I'm not sure. Does the intro sound exactly like a zz top song?

I was experimenting with my new funk drum adpak for addictive drums and started working up a new track. I will eventually be submitting it to various music licensing companies, so avoiding copyright infringement is required

I started playing off the cuff and when I listened back it sort of reminded me of a zz top track, but couldn't quite place it.

For the most part, infringement cases involving riffs/rhythm riffs are difficult to win. It's usually lyrics/melodies that are the slam dunks

Excellent track if a client says, "I'd like a ZZ top-ish" track

kinda reminds me of I met a sheik from Mozambique in a way

I dig it. It's no ZZT song I know.

It has that growly Gibbons tone but not really a rip-off of ZZT. I like the tone-what did you use to record it gearwise?

Thanks all for the input. The mozambique song is the one I was thinking of too, after I researched it a bit.

The guitar was a fender strat with some dimarzio hum canceling single coil in the neck (virtual vintage?). It's the one they claim sounds like a p90. They discontinued it a year or so back. The amp was my pod x3 with two tweed deluxes. One had a fuzz stomp on it. Started off rolled back on the volume and then full on.

The tweed deluxe is what I was thinking. Low gain growl and certainly one of the amps that Billy has favored over the years. Nice tone.

The main rhythm guitars were the strat with a dimarzio virtual vintage solo pro in the neck. Lead was a carvin ct4 with a rio grande bbq bucker in the bridge. Bass was my fender jazz bass. Drums were the addictive drums funk adpak. All the guitars were variations of the pod x3's tweed deluxe. with various stomps.

My daw is fl studio. The only post stuff was a low end roll off on the guitars and master and a limiter on the drums.

It sounds like a cross between Sheik(Tres Hombres) and Mexican Blackbird(Fandango).
