Best Van Morrison Song for a Father-Daughter wedding dance

I was thinking this, but maybe it's a bit too rainy day sober for the occassion:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beside_You

Any short and sweet songs that are focused on the family ties versus doing how lovers do?

Have I Told You Lately.

I'd look no further. No mention of Eros either, just plain old love.

I looked up Have I Told You Lately and wiki says it's a bit hit at weddings - looks like a solid choice!

Moondance is a great one...

"Well I wanna make love to you tonight
I can't wait till the morning has come
And I know now the time is just right
And straight into my arms you will run
And when you come my heart will be waiting
To make sure that you're never alone
There and then all my dreams will come true dear
There and then I will make you my own
And every time I touch you, you just tremble inside
And I know how much you want me that, you can't hide...

Can I just have one a' more moondance with you, my love?
Can I just make some more romance with a' you, my love? "

Hmmm, to me that's not exactly the lyrics for a Father Daughter dance.

"Have I told You Lately" has my vote though.

Another +1 for "Have I Told You Lately" - very popular first dance for Bride and Groom, can also work as F/D.

'Someone Like You' - also very popular dance for B+G but too romantic for F/D.

If you're using recordings, go with Van on the first one, not Rod- though his is actually more popular with the general public.

Van has some other great B+G first dances: "Crazy Love", 'Tupelo Honey' (6 mins!, so fade it..) etc- but they are also too romantic for F/D dances. imoho

Save Moondance for regular dancing when lyrics don't matter....or in that time before dancing starts, when dinner is over and people are tapping toes while the B+G visit guest tables. Good pre-dance tune for setting the mood, or nice swing tune during dancing.

Van Morrison is great.

Tupelo Honey?

You can take all the tea in china
Put it in a big brown bag for me
Sail right around the seven oceans
Drop it straight into the deep blue sea
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
She's an angel of the first degree
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

You can't stop us on the road to freedom
You can't keep us 'cause our eyes can see
Men with insight, men in granite
Knights in armor bent on chivalry
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
She's an angel of the first degree
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

You can't stop us on the road to freedom
You can't stop us 'cause our eyes can see
Men with insight, men in granite
Knights in armor intent on chivalry
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
She's an angel of the first degree
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

You know she's alright
You know she's alright with me
She's alright, she's alright (she's an angel)

You can take all the tea in china
Put it in a big brown bag for me
Sail it right around the seven oceans
Drop it smack dab in the middle of the deep blue sea
Because she's as sweet as tupelo honey
She's an angel of the first degree
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

She's as sweet as tupelo honey
She's an angel of the first degree
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like the honey, baby, from the bee
She's my baby, you know she's alright.....
